ExxonMobil, in conjunction with Opera Australia, Orchestra Victoria and Wellington Shire Council, brings to Sale ‘An Esso Night at the Opera’, a free concert on Monday 20 October at 7:30pm.
Starring some of Australia’s finest opera singers, including Antoinette Halloran, Stacey Alleaume, Jonathan Abernethy and Michael Honeyman, the evening features a program of popular arias, from works including Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Bizet’s Carmen and Verdi’s La Traviata. The artists will be accompanied by Orchestra Victoria under the direction of conductor and ABC personality Guy Noble.
Opera Australia’s Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini says, “Opera Australia is committed to taking opera to different audiences across the country because we want as many people as possible to be a part of the experience that is opera. We are honoured to be welcomed back into communities and we’re grateful to ExxonMobil for helping Opera Australia and Orchestra Victoria present this concert to the Sale community.”
As one of Opera Australia’s Silver Partners, ExxonMobil has provided a significant amount of support to opera performances for more than 30 years and continues its commitment to the art form, through its sponsorship of the Opera Australia Chorus.
Esso Longford Plants Manager, Monte Olson, said “We are delighted to work with Opera Australia, Orchestra Victoria and Wellington Shire Council to bring the arts to Gippsland and to give the local community free access to a great evening's entertainment."
Mayor, Cr Scott Rossetti, says “This is a wonderful initiative and provides opportunity for our residents to experience the opera right on their doorsteps at the Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre.”
The concert is free, however seating is limited and tickets must be pre-booked. Tickets are available by calling Box Office 5143 3200.
